Inspirations

Sometimes I realize how superficial I must appear, because I am so happy. I know I am one of the happiest people I know--or simply, the happiest. I love my life! I love my life almost every day! I love me--who I am, who I want to be, who people think I am. In my own vision of things, I am the luckiest, happiest, best person in the world. Yeah guys, I am SO dain conceited. But dude, I love that too!

But this entry isn't about how much I love me. Letseee.. righto, inspirations. I have lots of them. I almost live for inspiration, because it makes me happy.

Today I was inspired to live in Venice Beach, because Abbot Kinney (where we went for Jenn's bday dinner with her parents) is so fun! Wouldn't it be the best to live in a studio apartment by the super artsy street, having coffee at a cafe in the morning, strolling by the beach on the weekends, riding a moped to school, having dinner at one of their hip restaurants with live music. Oui, that it would be. Mmmmm.

On Thursday I went to the roof of Boelter, my favorite spot at UCLA, to watch the clouds in the sky. There were so many of them! I LOVE clouds. I love how they move, and how they fill up the sky, and how there are so many different shapes of them. I lay (I wish this wasn't the past-tense form of lie, it's so odd) down on the super dirty rooftop and daydreamed until the sun started setting. I don't mean to sound so artsy-fartsy & poetic, but inspirations are kinda artsy-fartsy & poetic.

Cloouuuuuddssss.

I also went to watch a jazz band (called Love Potion, comprised of three UCLA students) at Kerckhoff, a UCLA cafe, on Monday. Every Monday night they have jazz! I love that. It's so cute when cafes have events & students set it up. :)

Love Potion, oh baby. Lookit his funny pants! They played bluesy jazz, mmm.

I was looking at The Big Picture, a part of the website for The Boston Globe, and dain, they have some inteeeense articles. I forced myself to look through "Afghanistan, October" & "Conflicts in Pakistan" so I can poke out of my wonderfully happy world, and I came across this (below) and cried for 20 minutes at the picture on my screen. After so may pictures of hurt people and soldiers, a picture of balloons. Balloons! They are so happy. Balloons are so happy, so unassuming. I'm sure that at some point in every person's life, a balloon can bring a smile. Okay I'm crying again. I couldn't, still can't, get over how much suffering there is, and how little it takes to make a person smile. Balloons. Maaan.

The best picture I have ever seen.

Falalalaaa. I love blogging. Blogging is so ego-centric, 'cause there's no back & forth with others.. I'm much better at blogging than talking, in the way that I can be more organized, 'cause when I talk I talk nonstop and very rushed. There are so many things I wanna tell people! Please compete with me to fill the conversation so I don't feel like a chatty jerk. I'm good at listening if you give me the chance!

Oh I can take a quarter off my senior year! HMMM, what to do. I'm already going abroad for my spring quarter next year. I suppose I'll extend my summer vacation into fall quarter! Oooh, the potential adventures!! :):):):)

Man, two weeks of not blogging leads to serious ranting. :P So does having a tab open for homework, 'cause looking at my Xanga tab is so much more exciting! But back to reading. Weetwoooo.

P.S. Dude, watch The Men Who Stare at Goats, if you like the Burn After Reading kind of humour. SO FUNNY SO HAPPY AHAHAHA, YAAAAY!! Mmmm, such a satisfying movie. I love almost-pointless movies about excited geeky people and their exciting adventures. Man!! I love going to the theatre and watching a movie that I can't stop smiling about. MMMMMMM!!

FB

I don't go on Facebook nearly as often anymore 'cause I realized it always makes Safari shut down, so now I open Firefox just to go on it, which is a hassle, so I only go on it once every few days. I could just use Firefox, but I like Safari's look better, so it wins. Oui!

Facebook always makes me nostalgic for my high school days, 'cause most of my 'friends' are friends from high school, and back then, I saw everyone, all the time! So I miss them all. I esp miss the older people I knew in Freshman & Sophmore year, 'cause I only saw them for two years, and they were really cool!! I wish I had something more interesting to say than "I miss you" to all of them, but all their lives are so different from when I knew them. Hey Jer/Narie, do you remember David? He used to carry around instruments and sing? He was SO COOL.

Dude, I'm in such a nostalgic mood. Totally uncool, 'cause when I get nostalgic, I get super nostalgic. aw;elk.zksejr

Every time I'm online past 2ish, I get like this, so I tell myself I won't do it again, but it's so easy to spend the night away on the computer. Lalalaaaaa.

I said I'll be a super student (as I say every quarter), but I haven't been. I'm gonna blame it on the flu striking during midterms. I've also been missing assignments, 'cause I'm not careful. Not worrying has its down points! But I'd rather be relaxed than stressed-but-serious, so I'm living my right life. Woooo!

Tomorrow I take a motorcycle class! It's just the knowledge part though. On Sat & Sun, I have riding lessons!! Then I get a certificate that I take to the DMV & then I get a license! MAN SO COOL YAY.

I shut a car door on my finger on Monday. It bled, but now it's okay. I can almost bend it normally! It's bruised but healing. There's a blood clot under my skin that looks like a sharpie mark; where's it gonna go, since it can't just fall off? Whoooo knows!

I finished making my dinosaur Halloween costume (minus a set of claws and feet that I may or may not do). HEHE YAY DINOSAUR!

I'm in a (much) brighter mood now. Study or sleep? It's 2:54am. Oh, right, I'm recovering from sickness, so sleep it is!! Self-wellness over school, all the time.

búscame

Búscame means "find me" in Spanish. I don't like being passive, so I'd rather much be saying "I will look for you," but I just came across the word (on free downloads on iTunes actually) and I liked it. Thank you 4 years of Spanish, I can now recognize Spanish words!! And understand them! Wow!

Anyway, yeah, that is my lovelife (or lack of, haha) update.

No, I'm not playing an exciting game of mysterious crushing. Juuuust waiting for a superhawt guy to find me. Oh so passive, I dislike it already! But dude man, what if Russell Crowe finds me? I'll be set for life! :O

I like the way búscame sounds like a challenge and a plea. I like the whole idea of finding & being found, outside from just the boy/girl concept.

I watched Kooza (Cirque du Soleil) on Wednesday. Ahh, fantastical as always!! It's so dain magical and wonderful and beautiful, MAANG, DAAANG. Ack, can't even explain it. If you ever have a chance to see a Cirque du Soleil show, go watch it!! I'm super glad my mother believes in shows. If my mom isn't your mom, you're missing out. X)

That guy in the middle was the MC, kinda? He was SOO COOOL.
I've seen a good share of Cirque du Soleil shows, but Kooza might have been my favorite. Kooza or Corteo. Mmmmm... sooo cooooool.

Bowling for Soup has a new CD out & I bought it on iTunes!! They have a song that goes, "I have nothing against California, but I can't stand L.A." Aww, does that mean they won't have very many tours here? Their concerts'll cost too much for me anyway. My friend dislikes BFS 'cause they're so vulgar. They are! I think it's very out-of-character for me to love BFS so much, but I do. I totally love them, there's so much sincerity in their irony. "Nothing in my wallet but I gotchoo", hahaha aww so cute.

Monday Morning Musings

Okay it's not really morning, but alliterations!!

I. Kabuki
I went to a Kabuki show ("Backstage to Hanamichi: A Behind the Scenes Look at the Color, Magic and Drama of Kabuki") on Thursday with Mother. The performance was at the Japanese American Culture & Community Center in Little Tokyo. It was basically a lecture about Kabuki, but lecture in the sense that it was educational, not long & boring. Dude it was so interesting!! The actors (but they're really more like superskilled artists) talked to us about the history of Kabuki & how the show works--the instruments, the setting, the stories, costumes, etc. Only men do Kabuki, so there are guys who do male-roles and guys who do female-roles. The female roles are so convincing, daaain. One guy who does female-roles taught us how to be feminine: shoulders back & down, walk with knees together, cover the mouth when laughing or crying. (He said, "Don't laugh like this: 'HAHAHA' with your mouth wide open. It is not feminine." Well no wonder I don't have suitors lining up to marry me!! ;D) It was such a great idea of a show, I loved all of it! There should be so many more lectures like that, in the world. Then we can see how cool all cultures are and not be biased and love.
I wanted to be much more formal about how much I enjoyed the show, but I am stuck sounding more excited & thus more kiddish. Anyways, it was so fun!! :):)

II. Franklin Canyon
I needed to go to a national park for my ecology class so I went to Franklin Canyon in Bel Air with Dennis & Harrison. Parks!! It was pretty small and desert-ish, but once we started walking around, I liked it! There were turtles & ducks (like 3 dif kinds) & dogs (with people walking them) & foreigners (Where did they come from? What made them want to go to Franklin Canyon? No one I know knows about it--how did they? What language was that?) & lotsa trees. It is SO quiet there! :) I forget how much I like nature. Mmmm, nature. I am so excited to live in Sweden.

III. Halloween!
is coming up, so I'm making my costume. I'm gonna be a dinosaur!! Rawwrrr!! So far I've made a long green hoodie. I need to add on a tail & spikes. I brought (more like kidnapped) Mom's sewing machine & I bought fabric at Joann's & man, making stuff is so fun!!

IV. *=What's up with that?
-I didn't use to have pimples, but now I do! * Mom says Papa has weaksauce skin and thus so do I probably. Maaan.
-I figured my pierced ears were plugged up since I haven't had earrings on for >4years, but today I tried on Jenn's cool earrings and it went through my left ear! But not my right. *
-I think I scrunch my shoulders all the time. * I used to have super relaxed shoulders, but now I always want a massage. Is it 'cause I only carry bags on my right shoulder?
-Emma said yes to Ken! *!!! I don't understand why Will doesn't divorce Terri, she's so annoying. I don't particularly like Glee, but if someone is watching it, I will too. Kinda too much drama, all of TV. I watched Emperor's New Groove today though!! LOVE!

V. I had four pieces of a rack of lamb. Life is sweeeet. *'u'*

Adventures!

Today was an adventure! Mom & I went on a "Walk and Eat" food event hosted by the "Los Angeles Gourmet Food Club", which is a little club by a Japanese food journalist. There were only 8 people, but/and we went on a 3.8mi eating/walking adventure in San Gabriel!! Dude I was so full. Dude, food-adventures are so fun. Lovelovelove!

So the restaurants were:

1. Saigon's Bakery & Sandwiches: Mom & I shared a derrrricious Vietnamese sandwich with beef sausage (super spicy deliciousness).

2. Bamboodles: Hand-cut noodles! Super good/fresh texture. Again, we shared cold green tea noodles. Their cha-shuu pork was really good; so tender & fatty, yes pleeeease.

3. 101 Noodle Express: We just had a take-out of their beef rolls, which is beef & vegetables in a tortilla-like rice wrap. We only had a sixth of the dish, so I would like to go back for the whole thing.

4. Wok and Noodle: Looked like a Chinese-mafia-owned restaurant, haha. They had deep-fried baby eels, which was like eel Cheetohs!! Fo' real! The others were saying how it'd taste good as a side dish for beer. I wouldn't know. The dumplings there were good.

5. Blue Cherry Yogurt Bar: What's with the Color Fruit names for yohgurt places? They have "Peking-style yogurt", which was just like plain yogurt, but it came with a straw. I just got fro-yo.

We started at 11am & ended at 3:30pm, so I think it is correct to call it an adventure. We got a ride back to our cars, well planned!! 'Cause I would not have walked back to point one, ferseriously.. 3.8mi is enough walking for a day. It was fun to talk with the other foodies. So much Japanese-talk! But I just talk like a kid & pretend I don't know any better. Pshh to formality!

And theeeen! I got a shampoo/head/shoulders massage with Mommy. I loved it! But I can't stand people touching my calfs so I kinda panicked, silently.

My mom always takes me out to funtimes & food. When do I have to start paying for myself? Never? Okay, I'm TOTALLY fine with that. Today the people we went to eat with thought that Mom & I were sisters. Mom's so funny, she LOOOOVES it when people say that. I know where I got my happily conceited ego. :D
